Furloughing of staff

Freedom of Information Act Request

Ref: FOI 20-21 29

Date issued: 22 March 2021

Subject: Furloughing of staff

Question(s):

This is an information request relating to the furloughing of staff.

Please include the following information from the commencement of the Job Retention Scheme in 2020 to present:
• The total number of staff your organisation has furloughed.
• The total cash amount of Job Retention Scheme disbursements that your organisation has received.

Response:

The GLAA receive our funding from the Home Office and therefore we do not qualify for the furlough scheme. This is taken from the following website; https://www.gov.uk/guidance/claim-for-wage-costs-through-the-coronavirus-job-retention-scheme

“If you receive public funding
If you have staff costs that are publicly funded (even if you’re not in the public sector), you should use that money to continue paying your staff, and not furlough your staff. Organisations can use the scheme if they are not fully funded by public grants and they should contact their sponsor department or respective administration for further guidance.”
