Licensing figures on GLAA website

Freedom of Information Act Request

Ref: FOI 22-23 04

Date issued: 01 June 2022

Subject: Licensing figures on GLAA website

Question(s):

1.     https://www.gla.gov.uk/our-impact/revocations-results/ and https://www.gla.gov.uk/media/7006/list-of-revocations-06042021.pdf shows zero licence revocations in 2021/22 – is that correct?

2.    https://www.gla.gov.uk/our-impact/who-has-been-inspected/compliance-inspections-2021/ shows 37 Compliance Inspections in 2021 – is this the final figure?

3.    Please can you let me know how many Application Inspections there were in 2021 and to end April in 2022.

4.    https://www.gla.gov.uk/our-impact/who-has-been-inspected/compliance-inspections-2022/ shows that until 26 April 2022 there was only one Compliance Inspection. Is that correct?

Response:

As per our Publication Scheme (www.gla.gov.uk/publications/glaa-publication-scheme/), the GLAA is committed to ‘make information available to the public as part of its normal business activities’. As such, we update our website with information relating to compliance inspections, revocations, convictions and appeals in line with our External Communication Policy (www.gla.gov.uk/media/5953/external-communications-policy-v20-final-091019.pdf).

1)    As per our External Communications Policy revocations (without immediate effect) are normally only publicised once the process has concluded i.e. the time for an appeal has elapsed or the appeal has been lost or withdrawn by the labour provider. The revocations list was updated on the GLAA website on 26 May. The list shows 3 licence revocations in 2021/22.  However, this may not be the final number depending on outstanding appeals.

2)    Inspections are added to the list on our website when the inspection report is received, and a decision is made. Therefore, there can be a delay between an inspection taking place and it being added onto the GLAA website. The list was update on 20 May 2022 and shows 39 Compliance Inspections. However, this may not be the final figure as some decisions may be outstanding.

3)    In the financial year 2021-22, the GLAA undertook 147 Application Inspections.

4)    As explained in question 2. This information was updated on 20 May 2022 and shows 7 inspections to date.
