Joint webinar from GLAA, EAS and HMRCs National Minimum Wage team

16th November 2021

Businesses are being invited to protect themselves and their workers in a free webinar being hosted by the GLAA and other enforcement bodies – HMRC and the Employment Agency Inspectorate (EAS).

The event, on Wednesday 15 December from 2pm-3pm, will aim to raise awareness of the importance of being compliant as a business, especially when it comes to workers – ensuring they are treated fairly and legally in respect of their working conditions and pay.

The three agencies hosting the webinar all have responsibilities for ensuring businesses comply with the law and ultimately protecting workers. They want employers to look after their workers, comply with the law and play their part in eradicating poor working practices by being a compliant business. That includes helping employers learn how to spot signs that something may have gone wrong or is not right with their staff or working practices.

Frank Hanson, head of prevention and partnerships at the GLAA, said: “Very often, legitimate business can be become unwitting victims of illegitimate practices – whether that be through people exploiting workers in your supply chains or other mechanisms, or simply because employers take their eye off the ball and don’t pay enough attention to due diligence. We’re hoping to engage with as many businesses as possible through this digital event and help raise awareness of the importance of compliance and due diligence.”
