  • GLA investigation into the dairy industry continues

GLA investigation into the dairy industry continues

20th May 2011

Today 19 individuals appeared at Swindon Magistrates court charged with offences contrary to section 13 of the Gangmasters (Licensing) Act 2004, for using an unlicensed Gangmaster.

18 defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge, whilst a further defendant did not enter a plea.

A further hearing has been set for 11/07/11.

This relates to the GLA’s ongoing investigation into the dairy industry: http://gla.defra.gov.uk/embedded_object.asp?id=1013680 Notes to editors

1. It is a criminal offence under s12 of the Gangmasters (Licensing) Act 2004 to supply labour in to the dairy industry without a licence from the GLA.

2. Labour users should only use licensed labour providers to avoid potential criminal prosecution under s13 of the Gangmasters (Licensing) Act 2004.

3. The list of licensed labour providers is available on our Public Register at www.gla.gov.uk.
