Freedom of Information Act Request

Ref: FOI 20-21 04

Date issued: 12 June 2020

Subject: News article published in 2018

Question(s):

On 2018-10-31 the following press release was issued: "Arrests after man 'lived in shed for four years'" (https://www.gla.gov.uk/whats-new/press-release-archive/31102018-arrests-after-man-lived-in-shed-for-four-years/). No further information about this case has made it into the public domain.
Can you please clarify what the status of the investigation is: Whether the arrested couple were acquitted, prosecuted or the investigation is ongoing? If the investigation is ongoing, when do you anticipate that the outcome will be announced? If the couple were prosecuted, the relevant court details and date. If they were acquitted, on what grounds?

Response:

After a review of all the available evidence a decision was made to take no further action against both arrested individuals in this case. The investigation was concluded on 23/07/2019.
